Onions and Christmas Trees

A family is at the dinner table.

The son asks his father, "Dad, how many Kinds of boobs are there?"

The father, surprised, answers, "Well, son, there Are three kinds of breasts. In her 20s, a woman's breasts are like melons, Round and firm. In her 30s To 40s, they are like pears, still nice but hanging a bit. After 60, they are like onions".

"Onions?"

"Yes, you see them and they make you cry."

This infuriated his wife and daughter so the daughter said, "Mum, how many Kinds of 'willies' are there?"

The mother, surprised, smiles and answers, "Well dear, a man goes through Three phases. In his 20s, his willy is like an oak tree, mighty and hard. In his 30s and 40s, it is like a birch, flexible but reliable. After his 50s, it is like a Christmas tree".

"A Christmas tree?"

"Yes - dead from the root up and the balls are just for decoration."

Have You Seen An Orange Christmas Tree?

Have you seen an orange Christmas decoration tree before?

I just did!

An orange Christmas decoration tree

Usually we only see or available in the market the Christmas decoration tree with conventional green colour or white colour. But today, I saw an orange Christmas decoration tree! This is surprising and fresh!

In the Mood of Christmas.....

When the month of December approach, everyone is in the mood of celebration even he or she is not a Christian. Everywhere will be decorated with Christmas decorations especially the shopping malls.

My colleagues (Telacia and Poh Ling) and myself went for a walk in 1 Utama after our lunch. The new wing of 1 Utama is nicely decorated with Christmas decorations. This year theme is Alice in the Winter Wonderland. Thus, all the decorations are big in sizes.

2008 1 Utama Christmas Theme : Alice in Winter Wonderland

Personally, I find it that last year theme Musical Christmas of Tale is more nicer and exciting. Maybe it is due to the big march man which can do some movements.

Happy Second Birthday, Ezel!

Happy Birthday, Ezel! You are two (2) years old now!

I feel very guilty this year as I am not able to celebrate Ezel birthday together with her as she is at Slim River with Ken. She do not even get a piece of cake. No one sings her birthday song. I feel very sorry for her.

I called Ken once I reached home. Ezel is with him. I sang her birthday song but she did not make a sound or sing with me. I think she been wondering what song am I singing to her. She just, as usual, mumbling what crossed her mind at that moment.

Whenever her birthday is near, I would get flashback of memories during my labour and delivery of her. I can remember so well on the time I gave birth to her and every moments and things that happend during and after her birth. Is this so called the mother instinct?

Anyway, happy birthday, darling! Go up in good health and be a smart girl!

Mummy and Daddy love you so much! *muaks*

Having a Family Problem?

Two men, one American and an Indian were sitting in a bar, drinking shot after shot. The Indian man said to the American, 'You know my parents are forcing me to get married to this so called homely girl from a village whom I haven't even met once. We call this arranged marriage. I don't want to marry a woman whom I don't love... I told them that openly and now have a helluva lot of family problems.'

The American said, 'Talking about love marriages... I'll tell you my story. I married a widow whom I deeply loved and dated for 3 years. After a couple of years, my father fell in love with my step-daughter and so my father became my son-in-law and I became my father's father-in-law. Legally now my daughter is my mother and my wife my grandmother. More problems occurred when I had a son. My son is my father's brother and so he ! is my uncle. Situations turned worse when my father had a son. Now my father's son i.e. my brother is my grandson. Ultimately, I have become my own grand father and I am my own grandson. And you say you have family problems? Gimme a break'

Rejuvenated

I had a hard and stressful day at work. I already do not have enough sleep yesterday night as I working on a quotation till late midnight. Even though work till late midnight, I still have not finished it and the dateline is today afternoon.

At first, I am fine and continued my work as usual even I am damn sleepy. Then, during the lunch time, I started pulled a long face. Apart from the tiredness and sleepiness that make me pulled a long face, I been disturbed by some events that do not make me happy.

I already planned to go home early when I started work in the morning. Somehow, I was caught in a meeting when it is almost time to go home. Thus, I have no choice but to stay back. Once I come out from the meeting room, I decided to go home straight away, at that very moment even no one can fetch me home. I rather take a taxi home.

I am so eager to go home because I am really stressed out. At that moment, all I been thinking is to have a few rounds of swimming and go to sauna after that. Luckily, my colleague offered me a ride.

Once I am home, I get changed and headed downstair for the swimming pool. I saw the jacuzzi is on (usually it is not on even on weekend). So, I thought I get a bonus as I get to enjoy jacuzzi which I been longed for since I moved in to Pelangi Utama.

I swims for few rounds before headed for the jacuzzi. My head is kept thinking about work and I cannot concentrate to enjoy my relaxing activities. As if I was physical there swimming and enjoying jacuzzi but my soul and mind are not concentrating what currently I am doing. I do keep telling myself to let go and enjoy but it seem that my work struck inside my mind.

After about 15 minutes in the jacuzzi, I headed for the sauna. I mediated inside the sauna room. As no one is together with me, I really feel and concentrate in the sauna room. The heat of the sauna really relaxed me and I started to relax and rest. I feel so relaxed after being in the sauna for 20 minutes. I headed back to the poolside to naturalize my body temperature before I go back home to bath.

After a bath, I really feel rejuvenated and I am not too stress thinking about work after that. Guess there is a reason why people need a break sometime. It really helps to relieve a lot of stress and burden either physically or emotionally.

I think I need to do these activities once a week to keep my work and personal life a balance. Else, I will breakdown. It is just a manner of time.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to all my friends!

This year Halloween fall on Friday. So, I guess all the dance clubs in downtown will be really, really pack today. People will make excuses to go out and have some fun. Furthermore, it is almost year end. It is time to relax and have some fun after months of hardwork.

I wish I can do the same! Really need some relaxation and fun to balance my busy and stressed work life. Well, my situation has changed and I cannot simply do what I wish nowadays. I have Ezel now to take care. *sigh*

Anyway, Happy Halloween to all! Have fun while you can! :P

Can Dancing be a Teaching Tool?

I watched this movie called "Take the Lead" on 8TV few hours ago. It is about dancing and how the lead character in the movie, Pierre Dulaine teaches a bunch of detention students to dance.

The movie is based on a true story. So, I googled up to find out more on this movie as it is based on true story. I also would like to know more as to why Pierre Dulaine uses dancing as a teaching technique. On the other hand, I am also curious about the explaination he made to the parents that how dancing can prevent a girl from getting pregnant and how a guy know how to touch a girl in respectable way.

The Movie Synopsis - taken from New Line Cinema website
Take the Lead is an inspirational drama based on the life of Pierre Dulaine, a Manhattan dance teacher and competitor who volunteers his time to teach ballroom dancing to a diverse group of New York inner-city high school students serving detention. The students are initially skeptical of Dulaine, especially when they learn what he’s there to teach them, but his unwavering commitment and dedication slowly inspire them to embrace his program. In fact, they even take it one step further and combine Dulaine’s classical dance with their unique hip-hop style and music to create a high-energy, unique fusion. As Dulaine becomes a mentor to his students, many of whom haven’t had much to strive towards in their lives, he inspires them to hone their skills for a prestigious city ballroom competition, and, in return, they share with each other valuable lessons about pride, respect and honor.

Then, I read from Wikipedia that Pierre Dulaine actually developed an educational technique known as The Dulaine Method: Changing Lives Through Dance. It is something like the Montessori method and the Suzuki method but Dulaine incorporated a different approach and philosophy.

The Dulaine Method: Changing Lives Through Dance - taken from Wikipedia
Over the past century, there have been numerous attempts to develop educational techniques that help children acquire the skills they need to become successful adults. The Montessori method and the Suzuki method are two of the most thorough, and successful, of those efforts.

What makes these methods so successful is that they combine a clear and compelling philosophy, rigorous and systematic training for those adults who will instruct the children, a program design that inherently coincides with the developmental needs of the children to be trained, and the ability to replicate the program on a large scale.

The Montessori method, with a philosophy grounded in guiding a child’s inner self to perfection, is completely focused on the emerging developmental needs of the child informing the Teacher about when to introduce certain learning experiences. The Suzuki method functions similarly: with a philosophical goal of bringing beauty to the spirits of young children, it builds on the essential developmental drive within young children for language acquisition.

Both the Montessori and Suzuki methods require extensive and rigorous training for their teachers. And both methods are indeed being replicated on a large scale.

Dancing Classrooms also combines a clear and compelling philosophy with a rigorous and systematic adult training model that dramatically coincides with the developmental need within 10-11 year old children to reinforce their social skills just prior to the onset of puberty. And Dancing Classrooms is now being replicated throughout the US and Canada with requests from several other international sites.

As with the Montessori and Suzuki programs, at the heart of Dancing Classrooms is a method – the Dulaine Method.

The Dulaine Method philosophy
Respect & Compassion: At the very core of the Dulaine Method philosophy is the essential respect that goes into being a Lady and being a Gentleman. In a time when we bemoan the loss of civil discourse and our society seems to become coarser by the day, Dancing Classrooms is a program that demands that the children not only treat others with respect but also encourages the children to respect themselves.

Coupled with respect is compassion. Perhaps it is Pierre’s own childhood that predisposes him to walk into a classroom full of children who struggle to believe in themselves, open his arms and heart to them, and then guide them gently along a journey that leads these young people to joy and accomplishment.

Respect and compassion are the foundational elements of the Dulaine Method. Unfortunately, very few adults know how to genuinely treat children with respect. And even fewer adults seem to remember what it was like being a child.

Being Present: Probably the most difficult skill for any teacher to learn is the ability to be completely in the moment when they are teaching. Children in particular are extremely aware of when the adult in charge (parent, teacher, coach) is not really there; and when a child senses that distance, woe be unto that adult.

Pierre’s ability to “be here now” enables him to observe every subtle nuance of student, and group, behavior. He can see when a child is nervous, not paying attention, when the group is becoming antsy and he can respond to those issues immediately, thus keeping the classroom experience flowing. Being present also allows Pierre to express his own positive emotions towards the children at precisely the moment the children need that affirmation.

Creating a Safe Place: Asking children to take the extraordinary risk of embarrassing themselves in front of their peers is precisely what Dancing Classrooms does. And the only reason that the children are willing to take this risk is because Pierre has perfected a way to make that experience safe.

A Dancing Classrooms class is a place in which everyone is equal: the students, the Teaching Artist, and the elementary school staff that are participating. In modern jargon we call this creating a therapeutic milieu, an environment so different from these children’s normal daily environment that simply being in that room and being part of that collective group experience changes that child.

Command & Control: Clearly, if you are going to move 25 children through twenty 45 minute classes and have them successfully learn seven dances, you need order and discipline. Pierre is in command of the class from the moment he begins until the moment the children leave the room.

An essential part of the Dulaine Method is developing the craft of managing the Group. When teachers are being taught how to work with children their training is invariably focused on individual child development. Rarely, if ever, are student teachers taught about group dynamics and how to manage a group of children. In many ways it is Pierre’s innate understanding of how to use the Group to help the Individual that is the glue that holds the program together. The ability to remain in absolute control of the Group while nurturing the children is one of Pierre’s greatest skills.

Language: Body & Verbal Language, both body and verbal, are the great connectors in Dancing Classrooms. Pierre’s entire physical affect is one of openness, warmth, and genuine affection for the children. His verbal repertoire is a consistent barrage of positive comments. There is no denying that when Pierre combines his body and verbal language he is a force the children simply cannot resist.

Humor & Joy: And last, but by no means least, Pierre brings humor and joy to the teaching experience. Humor is perhaps the most difficult, yet powerful teaching tool for a teacher to master. Gentle humor can help a shy child become less self-conscious; humor with that same child handled poorly can make him retreat and never come back out. As clichéd as it sounds, Pierre allows his inner child to fully emerge when he is teaching. He is playful, he is present, and the children can sense that he is just plain happy to be with them. "He also has this little habit of playfully slapping the students at Gateway Academy with his tie.

Being in such a safe place, where the boundaries are clear, the teacher is fully present, where respect and compassion reign – these are the elements that bring joy into the lives of the Dancing Classrooms children. And, as one Teaching Artist states:

"Dancing Classrooms is not about teaching ballroom dancing. The dance is a tool for getting the children to break down social barriers, learn about honor and respect, treat others carefully, improve self-confidence, communicate and cooperate, and accept others even if they are different."

After reading the above, I thinked of Ezel as she likes to dance. It would be great if she able to learn all the above skills mentioned thru her beloved activity, dance. I wonder if Malaysia have this Dancing Classroom.

The Lawyer and the Irishman

A lawyer and an Irishman are sitting next to each other on a long flight.

The lawyer is thinking that the Irish are so dumb that he could get over on them easy...

So the lawyer asks if the Irish man would like to play a fun game. The Irishman is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks.

The lawyer persists, and says that the game is a lot of fun. I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500, he says. This catches the Irishman's attention and to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game.

The lawyer asks the first question. 'What's the distance from The Earth to the Moon?' The Irishman doesn't say a word, reaches in his pocket pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it's the Irishman's turn. He asks the lawyer, 'What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?' The lawyer uses his laptop and searches all references he could find on the Net. He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail.

After one hour of searching he finally gives up. He wakes up the Irishman and hands him $500. The Irishman pockets the $500 and goes right back to sleep.

The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the Irishman up and asks, 'Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?' The Irishman reaches in his pocket, hands the lawyer $5 and goes back to sleep.

Lesson of the story : Don't mess with the Irish.

Ezel First Tumbler

Ezel got her first tumbler from her Kaw Fu (my younger brother) yesterday when I went over to Mummy's house. It is Starbucks Owl Glow in the Dark Tumbler. My brother told me weeks ago that he bought a tumbler for her. But I got no time to go over to Mummy's house to take it due to busy schedule.

Ezel's Starbucks Owl Glow in the Dark Tumbler. Photo taken from Starbucks website

I gave Ezel to use today after she woke up from her afternoon nap. I poured juice inside the tumbler and gave it to her. When she took the tumbler, she keeps saying, "Kaw Fu, Kaw Fu". Maybe she saw the Starbucks logo on the tumbler.

I been teaching her last time that once she saw the Starbucks logo, I would said, "Kaw Fu". My brother is a bit distracted on this as he afraids that Ezel will recognize the Starbucks logo as Kaw Fu instead of his real face. So, he gave me a passport-sized photo so that I can teach Ezel that Kaw Fu looks like the one in the photo and not the Starbucks logo. Well, coincidentally, my brother is wearing a Starbucks T-shirt to took that photo. So the Starbucks logo appeared on photo as well but not too big. I did not teach her on the Starbucks logo but she is smart enough to remember details. So, she relate anything she saw that having Starbucks logo to Kaw Fu.

She keeping saying "Kaw Fu" when she tooks the tumbler and did not drink from it. So, I said, "Yes, it is from Kaw Fu. Kaw Fu buys for you". Then, I showed her how to drink and she drinked well. She was not able to control her drink from a mug last time. She started to drink from the mug well just this week as Ken's auntie tought her. I walked her to the sofa and while she walks, she keeps repeating, "Kaw Fu.....Kaw Fu.....PoPo.....PoPo".

She is relating things! This means, she is able to remember details and group them together. She is such a smart girl!

Anyway, thanks to Kaw Fu for the glow in the dark tumbler. It is not cheap - about RM20+ after staff price.

Poor Ezel.....

Ezel supposes to be overnight at Ken's aunty's house. But my mother-in-law insisted Ken to bring Ezel home. She afraid that Ezel do not sleep well there. Thus, Ken have to bring her back.

At night, Ken said her legs very itching due to mosquitoes bite. There are a number of areas of her legs covered with mosquitoes bite. Ken said it looks swollen due to her delicate skin plus her scratching due to itchiness.

I really felt very sad hearing this. I seem helpless not able at her side nurturing her. :(

Missing You

Ezel and Ken finally went back to Slim River today. Ken dropped me to work and drive back to Slim River with Ezel.

Then, she dropped her off to his aunty who is also taken care of Ken before when he was young. She is a fulltime nanny and taken care a numbers of children. However, I am still worry that Ezel is not adapt to the new environment and taken care by another people.

Ken assured me that she is fine as when he visited her in the afternoon (during lunch time), he informs that she is very happy. She has a company and playing with a almost two (2) months old baby and some kids (Ken's another aunty children). I was relief that Ezel adapted well.

I miss her and Ken a lot.

Wall.E

Wall.E
Ezel refused to sleep and keep nagging that she wants to watch her music VCD. As the television in the room is spoiled, I let Ezel watch Wall.E on my notebook.

I got the movie clip from my collegue, Clement. As I never watch it before and thinking that Ezel might likes it, I watch the movie clip with her.

At first, Ezel put interest into it as I am using notebook to let the watch instead of television. She finds it funny and odd. She likes to watch it especially the beginning part as it looks cute with Wall.E actions and the cockroach actions.

Then, she losts interest and search through my handbag by taking out all the stuffs inside it onto the bed. Somehow, on and off, she will be watching as some of the scenes captured her attention to watch. I also pointed her to the funny scenes to attract her attention.

When the scene of Eva and Wall.E introducing and talking to each other, she intimates how to pronounce Wall.E and Eva! She really loves to watch it!

Finally Found "Daisy, Daisy" VCD

We went to Tesco Damansara to purchase some groceries. The main purpose is to purchase Ezel's VCD that contains her favourite song, Daisy, Daisy as she keeps nagging for it for the past few days. I cannot tolerate anymore on the nagging.

Even the few days before, during the lunch time, I went to Speedy store in 1 Utama to look for the VCD that contain the song. It was lucky that I found but it was not a VCD but CD only. Thus, I gave up buy that because I know that Ezel wants to watch the MTV as well. No point I bought the CD that will end up Ezel is not listening to it. I even go to Tower Records store but found none.

It was so lucky that the Tesco Damansara have exactly the same VCD I used to buy for her last time. When I handed over to her, she can recognize that it is her VCD that contain the song Daisy, Daisy. She keeps saying, "Daisy, Daisy" while holding the VCD.

Ezel, please do not nag Mummy anymore for Daisy, Daisy. Hopefully I have a clearer ears with the purchase of this VCD. ~phew~

Richie Ren Love and Beloved Concert Live at Genting Purchased!

Richie Ren Love and Beloved Concert Poster

After rounds and rounds of checking thru Genting website and telephone reservation of the ticket seats availability, finally I purchased my Richie Ren Love and Beloved Concert tickets. I am so happy and cannot wait for the day to arrive.

I purchased the tickets online for the Price Scale 3 (PS3) with an early bird promotion. Although the ticket selling was launched on 05 September 2008 for Genting WorldCard (GWC) members' pre-sale, all the good or front seats has been taken. So my seats are a bit behind (row BH). I have discussed with Ken and both of us agreed that it is the best seat given all the choices available by that time.

We knew there is a Richie Ren concert when we went to Genting Highlands last time on 14 July 2008. After I got back, I quickily MSN Ezel's Kai Ma, my best friend, Jedi to take care of Ezel during the concert day. She agreed and she also mentioned that she would like to spend some quality time with her little goddaughter.

We booked and purchased the rooms first on 14 September 2008 as there are limited rooms available under the "888 Deals" offered at Genting website. We booked two (2) rooms at Theme Park Hotel - one for us and one for Jedi. She said she will be driving from Singapore to Genting Highlands with a friend. So, we booked a separate room.

All the necessary (place to stay and most important tickets) has been settled. So, the only thing I can do now is wait for the concert day to come while rehearsing some Richie Ren's songs. :P

Days left to the concert on 08 November 2008 :

Fate of the Dragon

Ken and I "re-alive" our very old PC. I formatted it and installed Microsoft XP into it. I also activated the Chinese input so that Ken can write in Chinese using pinyi.

Then, I started to install some of the old games to try our chances if they are able to play in Microsoft XP version as they stated Microsoft Window 98 is the highest compatible. We tried before on the newer PC with Microsoft XP as well but most of the games cannot be played. Do not where is the bug.

With the CD-ROM 52X speed and aged some age, finally I managed to install the Fate of the Dragon. To our surprise, the game run. Ken and I was so happy as we missed playing with this game. Ken said maybe it is caused by the Chinese activation.
I tried to install Emperor : Rise of the Middle Kingdom but the CD cannot be read by the CD-ROM. I suspected the CD is spoilted as I tried with other CD-ROM as well but cannot be read as well. The same goes to Rise of the Nations. It can read but there is an error during the installation.

Nevertheless, we got an old missed game to be play now. :)

Ezel Favourite Song : Daisy, Daisy

This is Ezel favourite song. She have this song in one of her VCD collection of children songs. Unfortunately, the VCD is temporary lost (somewhere in the house but could not be found). She might hide it somewhere till I am not able to look for it.

Ever since the VCD is missing in action, whenever she wanted to watch her VCD, she will said, "Daisy, Daisy," because the MTV only features the chorus part as below:

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer, do!
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you!
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two.

Since the VCD is missing, I have to sing it to her and she will dance and sing along but only "Daisy.....Daisy.....". Afterall, this is the only word she knows in the whole chorus above. :P

No More Big Ball

The Nike advertisement outside the 1 Utama 'birdcage" finally need to be replaced by another advertisement. Today the old advertisement banner is being torn down and replaced by a new advertisement banner.
Ezel's "Big Ball" Advertisement Torn Down in Progress

Unfortunately, when the torn down activity is in progress, we passed by. As usual, Ezel is non-stop saying her "big ball". As we approach the banner nearer and nearer, she asked, "Where? Where big ball?" as she do not see the big ball in the advertisement.

Then, I said, "No more big ball". From her face impression , she looks puzzled with my answer and wondering why the ball is missing as she still can see the footballer in the banner. She just kept looking at the banner and searching her "big ball". She never said a word as slowing we drived away as the traffic light turned green.

Video Call Madness

My mobile phone data setting is not correct. Thus, I cannot use the video call function. Then, I try to reset from Maxis website by following the instructions as stated. Luckily, it was configured properly with a few clicks and press of buttons.

After everything has been configured, I try to video call to Ken but unfortunately, Ken's mobile phone or area has no 3G coverage. What a disappointment!

Later, Ken called me using video call. Ezel is surprised when she saw me in the mobile phone. I think she is confused as to why I appeared in the mobile phone. But later, she used to it and make funny faces whenever we video calls.

It was madness and in the morning itself only, we make three (3) to four (4) video calls. The main reason is because of new stuff. Secondly, we have 15 hours free video and voice calls from Maxis! We need to maximize the free usage or else it will just burn like that!

A Hidden Message of Man Opens the Doors for Women

Just going thru Su's blog and I stopped on her entry on this title, 'From now on, I’ll let him open the door for me’.

I read and smile when there is someone who really takes care of her so much and the way she describe all this while on her own action until I notice the message below :

[When a man opens the door for a woman, it is as if he is subconsciously saying "You're special to me, I care about you, I honour you, I am here for you, I understand you do so much for everyone so I am happy to help make things easier for you whenever I can."This loving message is given each time a man goes a little out of his way to show consideration for making his partner's life easier and more comfortable. Actions speak louder than words.]

I did not know that there is a hidden message on this simple action. All the while I being thinking that it is an issue of manner when a man opens the doors for the woman as we used to see this action in Western movies.

Until I read message in Su's blog. It really opened up my thoughts and all my previous thinking.

I hope everyone will know about this message so that each one of us knows the reasoning behind it and appreciate if someone does this to you.

Kitchen Fire Information Warning

I got this forwarded e-mail from my colleague. I read it as usual until I watch the video clip. Then, I decided that I had to put this on my blog to warn others also about the safety in the kitchen especially dealing with fire!

This is how the forwarded e-mail:
Kitchen Fire
I never realized that a wet dishcloth can be a one size fits all lid to cover a fire in a pan! This is a dramatic video (30-second, very short) about how to deal with a common kitchen fire .. oil in a frying pan. Read the following introduction, then watch the show ... It's a real eye-opener!!
At the Fire Fighting Training school they would demonstrate this with a deep fat fryer set on the fire field. An instructor would don a fire suit and using an 8 oz cup at the end of a10 foot pole toss water onto the grease fire. The results got the attention of the students.
The water, being heavier than oil, sinks to the bottom where it instantly becomes superheated. The explosive force of the steam blows the burning oil up and out. On the open field, it became a thirty foot high fireball that resembled a nuclear blast. Inside the confines of a kitchen, the fire ball hits the ceiling and fills the entire room.
Also, do not throw sugar or flour on a grease fire. One cup creates the explosive force of two sticks of dynamite. This is a powerful message ---- watch the video and don't forget what you see. Tell your whole family about this video. Or better yet, send this to them.

Maxis Supplementary Line Registration

I went to 1 Utama Maxis Exclusive Partner (MEP) outlet during lunch to register a Maxis supplementary line under the Value Plus Family.

I am lucky as I managed to get a nice number that the last four (4) digits are same as Ken's. It was definitely no doubt that it is an old number or previously used by another people. Maxis or any other telecommunication companies will recycled the number(s) after some period of time due to insufficient running numbers. I have the instinct that after I use this number, I will get numbers of calls that looking for the previous owner of this number.

But, I have no choice but to use this number as it is easy to remember and rhythm with Ken's. I plan to use the number on 01 August 2008 since my current DiGi prepaid still have balance - I need to finish it before I discontinue to use.

New Mobile Phone Just for Video Call Function

Ken bought me a new mobile phone, Sony Ericsson k800i as Maxis offer limited hours of video calls between supplementary lines since we decided that I should change to Maxis services to have a cheaper and saving on mobile phone calls.

Ken said that by using video enable mobile phone, Ezel can video call me anything so that she would not miss me that much. She will usually talks to me on the phone when I am working. I guess she just miss me when I am away.

Ezel First Raw Meal

Finally, we managed to enter the restaurant. Everyone needed to pay including the children as this restaurant policy is different with others as they determine thei children price with heights. Luckily, Ezel is out of the range. Thus, she is free of charge. Later, Baby Uncle and family joined us as well as Ah Pek Ku Jie two (2) sons.

There are really a lots of varieties of foods with different cooking styles. As everyone is hungry, we quickly settle down in a big private room and then takes a tour to take out foods.

I quickly gives Ezel some foods she can eat. Then, Oong-Oong Ku Jie helps me to take care of Ezel while I search for my foods. When I am back, I saw Oong-Oong Ku Jie gave her raw Salmon to Ezel to eat. Ezel keeps nodding her head while chewing the raw meat. I am surprised as I never thought she would loves it. On the other hand, I am quite worry as the Salmon is raw and I afraid that she cannot tolerate it and develops allergy to it. Oong-Oong Ku Jie keeps assuring me that it is fine and I have nothing to worry about.

Ezel then ate a lot of varieties of foods and Oong-Oong Ku Jie said it should be like this as to develop her sense of taste and foods tolerance. Ezel is very happy today as there are many teenage uncles and aunties playing with her.

Dinner at Jogoya, Starhill

After Papa obituary praying, we are so hungry and wanted to eat. But it is already 3PM plus and most of the eateries has been closed. Oong-Oong Ku Jie suggested hi-tea at one of the hotels in Bukit Bintang area.

She called her friends to ask for suggestion and recommendation. At first, we went to Park Royal Hotel and Keng Choong, Marcus and Corbyn went to check out the foods, Oong-Oong Ku Jie got a call and she asked them to come back and go to Starhill Gallery instead.

She brought us to this restaurant known as Jogoya whereby they serve Japanese foods in buffet style. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed for the afternoon and only re-open at 5PM. At that time, we are about 45 minutes away. We have no choice but to wait outside the restaurant for it to re-open.

Ezel is quite hungry that time as she did not take much foods or milk earlier. Unfortunately, I left my "bag-in-needs" in Oong-Oong Ku Jie's car. She is sleepy as well but being around with four (4) kids, she cannot afford herself to sleep but to devote herself to play with them. She did make some tantrums on and off but refused to take a short nap.

Papa Obituary

It is Papa obituary today. Coincidentally, Oong-Oong Ku Jie and her four children are able to join us for the praying.

Since Oong-Oong Ku Jie is staying at Ah Pek Ku Jie house in Bandar Utama, I decided to ride along with her as she do not know the road. Ken has to lead the way all the way from Bandar Utama until we reached the place.

Ken did not stay as he have some appointment and errands to run. Oong-Oong Ku Jie parked her car and we go up the staircase to the praying place.

It was Ezel's first time to pray Papa as previously she was too young to go to these places (even I actually felt not comfortable bring her there due to some reasons). I introduced Ezel to Papa by asking Ezel to hold the incense and do the nodding. Mummy adds or tells Papa not to scare their grandchild if he did "visit" her.

Big Ball

Ever since we moved to Bandar Utama area, Ezel keeps saying and learn new words of "big ball" as there is a big Nike advertisement outside 1 Utama "birdcage". Whenever Ken send me to work or comes to pick me up after work, Ezel will tell us that it is "big ball". She really a fast learner.
Nike Advertisement outside 1 Utama "Birdcage"

She would not stop saying "big ball" until we say, "Yes! It is a big ball".

She merely wants us to acknowledge that what she say is correct and match to the thing she see and the things that she learned from us. She has a good memory.

Maxis Broadband

After my half day training at All Media office, Ken and I went to apply for landline for Pelangi Utama as we needed to use Internet for my work as well as Ken's online business. I purposely taken half day off just for this reason. We waited for quite some time before our turn. Finally, it is our turn and we headed to the selected counter. We handed in the application form and waited again for the officer in charge to process.

After about 10 minutes, he finally voiced out that application for Pelangi Utama will takes at least one (1) month due to no more access point at the moment. Both Ken and I was so surprised that it takes that long and we feedbacked to the officer that we need it urgently. He informed us that he cannot do anything as it is beyond his control. However, he mentioned that Telekom is aware of the situation and the access point for Pelangi Utama is in progress now.

He suggested us to apply for the landline while waiting for the access point to be available. In no choice condition, we have to follow his suggestion. He done the necessary documentation. We also requested Flora Damansara landline to be terminated as well as the Internet account.

Then, we went to Taman Tun Dr Ismail's Celcom Centre as Ken is urgently needed Internet connection for his online business. We enquired about the Celcom broadband but we find it not a good package as we need to fork out money to purchase the USB modem. Eventhough the monthly charge is affordable but currently we do have that amount of money to purchase the USB modem.

So, we walked out from the Celcom Centre and headed towards the Maxis Centre across the street. We enquired some basic information and in less than five (5) minutes, we agreed to apply for Maxis Broadband. Although the monthly charge is slightly higher than Streamyx, about RM138 per month, it is still cheaper than the Celcom broadband as we do not need to fork out money to buy the USB modem. The officer in charge has warned us that the connection in high level (after fifth floor) is not that good but as for the moment, we do not have any other choices. Previously, we have compared about the other wireless broadband like iZZi but all the offers requires upfront payment where we cannot afford right now.

On top of the good package (free USB modem and affordable use then pay monthly charge) that Maxis offered, the officer in charge also informed us that if we have postpaid voice account, we can get some rebate on the broadband monthly charges. Hearing that, without hestitation, we quickily convert Ken's number into postpaid account so that we can enjoy monthly RM20 off the broadband charge.

Finally, we bought home the Maxis USB broadband. Unfortunely, the limited edition of "wild" USB broadband (the outlook of the USB broadband is based of wild animals theme like ladybug, frog, zebra and etc) is out of stock. Thus, we only take the ordinary look of the USB broadband which just stated "Maxis Broadband".

No News on the Parking Bay

There is no call from the developer office as they promised to call on the resolution on my complaint, the beam over limit into our parking bay.

So, I have to make my way to the developer office. The Chinese man informs that there is no news from the headquarter yet. He promised to call me if there is any news from the headquarter.

Then, I asked him usually what the headquarter suggested to do. I asked if the developer will assign me a new parking lot. He said the possibility is low as all the parking bay has been sold out. He said that perhaps the headquarter will instruct to re-draw the parking bay line (the yellow line that separate the bay size).

"What!"

That is my first impression that cames to my mind. They are going to re-draw the parking bay line? That is the first time I heard something like this. Thinking back, well, that is the only and best resolution they can offered to my complaint since there is no more parking bay available. If not, what else can I suggest?

Ken said that the other two (2) parking bays, if look properly, are actually bigger a bit that ours. So, maybe it is true that developer over drawn the parking bay last time. *sigh*

Complaint on the Air Conditioner Point

I went to management office to ask back for my renovation deposit as we are done with the installation of the grill. Since we cannot do the air conditioner installation, I decided to take back the cheque before the management office cashed it as they informed previously it will took them months to give us back the deposit.

When I was there, I complainted about the air conditioner point not installed properly. The clerk informed that this has to be referred to the developer office. Then, the clerk called someone to do the inspection to see if there is any damages made by us to the common area during the renovation. When an Indian man came, the clerk briefly mentioned my complaint to him and he asked me details.

Then, he accompanies me to the developer office to make the complaint. Again, they ask me to put it down in the complaint form. I add-on this complaint to the complaint form I used to complaint on my parking bay. The developer personnel in charge inform that they will ask someone to check that next week.

The Indian man then follow me back to my house to do the inspection. He checked the gates grill and the laundry area grill installation. He is satisfied and penned it down in the form before he handed me the cheque. He asked if he can takes a look at the balcony for the air conditioner pipe out. I said yes. Then, he wants to look at the room but I declined as Ken is sleeping inside.

He informed that if that is the case, he will leave it to the developer to handle. Then he left the house.

No Air Conditioner for the New House

Ken informs that we cannot install air conditioner even with the ready point prepared by the developer. The air conditioner fellow said to Ken that the bronze pipe is too short and it is not properly installed. Thus, he cannot install the air conditioner.

The air conditioner fellow said he encountered the same issue before at Block B. He suggested us to ask the developer personnel to do the repair since it is still under warranty. He warns Ken that it will takes weeks for the developer personnel to do the repair depending how serious is the improper installation of the pipe as they might need to do the whole process of installation again.

Ken and I decided not to take the air conditioner repair by the developer office. We take into consideration that it might need to drill the whole pipe out all the way to the balcony which overlap the second room which occupied by Ken's sister. It is inconvience and will makes the house dusty as well. On the other hand, the management just announced that there are two (2) units being broken in and the management believed that it is insider job/person. Due to all these reasons, we decided to drop off the repair but still need to complaint to the developer about this, for record purposes.

Beam at the Parking Lot is Over Limit

We have studied few times and realized that the beam that situated beside our parking lot is actually over limit to our parking bay. In return, our parking bay is actually in smaller size compare to other parking bay.

In the past few days, we experienced that it has actually caused us hard to get out of car. In result, we either have to get out of the car before parking the car into the bay or always hit our car doors to the beam.

Ken is having difficulty to park into the parking bay as well as it is too small or should I say just enough for a car to fit in. He needs to do reverse few times before he can parks the car into the very limited and fitted bay. Luckily the two (2) bays on our right side of the parking lot are not occupied yet. If not, Ken will have trouble to park the car into our parking bay.

We inspected others parking lots and bays too. They have no issue - the beam is built outside the parking lot and none of the beams are actually run over any of the parking lots/bays. It seems like only ours parking lot having this issue.

We complainted to the management office today when we went to pay the maintenance fees. But the management office personnel asked us to refer to the developer personnel which the temporary office is situated behind the management office. After settled the maintenance fees, I walked to the developer temporary office.

A Chinese man was sitting there. I complainted about the issue I am having. Then, he showed me the parking lot floor plan. To my surprise, the floor plan also indicated that the beam is actually over limit into our parking bay! No wonder the real estate agent asked us few times if we wants to see the parking bay. Now I understand why but it is too late now as I have purchased the house and this is the parking bay allocated to my house.

I asked the personnel in charge what will be the action taken by them as the beam is builted there to support the building and no way they could destroy it. He promises that he will takes a look at it in the afternoon and will brings this issue up to the developer headquarter. He said that we will get updates by Thursday.

A Night Without Light

Well, today is the first day we stay at Pelangi Utama even with the condition of no lighting yet. We have to overnight at Pelangi Utama as the mattress has been moved over from our rented house at Flora Damansara in the afternoon. Thus, we have no choice but to overnight at Pelangi Utama. Furthermore, the rented house is quite messy and dusty now.

There is no lighting facility yet not because there is no eletricity. It is because in the afternoon, Ken is busy assemble the gates and windows grill. Thus, he has limited time to fix the lighting. The only lighting he manages to fix is the living room light. So, in the whole house, only the living room have light.

The only thing we have to use for lighting is the instant lamp (plug and switch from the power point). Luckily we have that as emergency. Else, we are really living in the darkness. It is so poor and pity that not having lights in the house as it is quite inconvience.

Well, have you try bath in the dark? I tried that! Yes, I have to bath in darkness too! But it is very inconvience and I gave up finally. Then, Ken comes to shine the bathroom by putting his mobile phone, Sony Ericsson K550 (turned on the light function) on the sink top. Now, the bathroom is not dark at all - at least I can see my hands and legs and where and which is the shampoo and bath cream located. I quickily have my bath with the limited lighting.

It is really an outrages experience I ever had. It seem like I am back to the kampung area/house but in fact, I am staying in a modern and yet medium-high cost apartment!

Self Assemble Kitchen Cabinets

We went to the new house again to assemble kitchen cabinets that we bought from Ikea few days. We did a self assemble as we know how to do it and cost saving. It is more sentimental as well when you do a self assemble as the satisfactory feel is there when you finally finish assemble the things.

Ken did most of the screwing while I helped to hold and minor things like that. Due to the heavy workload, Ken's finger swollen due to too much of screwing as we use manual screw driver to screw the screw. As it is weekend (Sunday) as well, the management forbidden the use of heavy machinery even a drill. Furthermore, we do not have any drill available at that moment. Finally, all the kitchen cabinets was assembled. The only things left is to mount them to the wall, assemble the doors to the cabinets and assemble the worktop.

After finished with the self assemble of kitchen cabinets, I distributed the things like lamps, kitchen stuffs, toilet stuffs and etc to the proper location that need to assemble accordingly so that when Ken assemble tomorrow, he no need to search high and low for it. While Ken take a short rest and continue to assemble the toilet glass cabinet.

Toilet Glass Cabinet

Before we go, we look at the kitchen cabinet again on how to arrage them as they come with different sizes. In the end, to our surprise, we found out that the worktop is lenghtier than the base cabinet! It must be when we purchase that time, the person in charge did not really do the calculation proper due to many customers in queue and we have overlooked it as well.

I called to Ikea Customer Hotline if we can exchange the base cabinet to bigger size. Unfortunately, according to the customer service officer, once we assembled the cabinet, we cannot exchange the size. She suggested us to change the worktop to the same size as the base cabinet or to take another extra 40cm base cabinet.

We discussed and in the end, we decided to buy another extra 40cm base cabinet looking at the hassle to move the worktop which is not light in weight. So, we go back to our rented house in Flora Damansara, take our bath and go to Ikea again to buy another 40cm base cabinet.

Happy Third Anniversary!

It is our third year of marriage. But both of us seem too busy to celebrate it as we are busy with the Pelangi Utama renovation so that we can move in on time.

Guess it is another "forgotten" anniversary.

Ezel First Day at Nanny's

Today is Ezel first day at the nanny's house since my mum cannot take care of her due to her schedule while Ken needs to do some renovation to our new house in Pelangi Utama before we can move in.

As far I was told by the nanny, there is nothing much happened and she do not even cry asking for me or Ken. I guess maybe there is another kids (Helen's daughters) over there to accompany her to play.

Somehow, she mistaken Helen as me as she wanted Helen to carry her when we go to pick her up. Is she confused or she just want to follow her back so that she can continues to play with the kids?

Wash House

Ken, Ching and myself went to wash the new house.

First, Ken sprinkles the mixture of rice, salt and tea leaves onto the floor. It is a Chinese tradition to usher out all the dirty things.

Then, I washed our master room toilet throughly including the walls and every inches of it. While Ken is washing the rooms. Later, we moved to the living room, kitchen and balcony.

As there is nothing (furnitures) inside the house yet, it is quite easy for us to wash every inches of the house without any obstacles. The hardest part is the windows especially washing the outer part.

The medium-high cost apartment workmanship really different from the medium-low cost apartment. The sides of the toilet's walls are carefully covered with nice and neat lining ceramics. I am quite satisfy with the workmanship.

Browsing Our New House at Pelangi Utama

After we left the vendor lawyer's office, we heads back to Pelangi Utama to check out the house as we need to estimate some measurements and areas for buying the furnitures that we planned.

When we reached the guardhouse, Ken used the access card to scan and the barrier lifted up. We are so happy that we no longer need to put our identification documents to the guards this time as we are officially one of the owners in Pelangi Utama!

Then, we searched for the allocated parking bay at the parking area. It tooks us some time as we are not familiar. Finally, we found it and it is quite near to the lift entrance. We parked our car at the our own parking bay. Ken complained that the parking bay is a little smaller compare to our first house in Bandar Tasik Selatan. Nevertheless, he likes the parking bay as it is allocated the the side (beside a pillar). He said it is the best bay as he do not need to afraid that the car will get scratched.

We walked to the lift entrance. We can see that there is a guard walking around to survey the parking area. Again, we need to scan the access card as the door was locked due to security purpose. This is what I call security and it is very high class. I like it very much. We tooks the lift up to 16th floor. Ken commented that the lift is better compare to the current house (Flora Damansara) lift and even our own house, Bandar Tasik Selatan.

We are really lucky. The unit we purchased at Pelangi Utama is actually a second hand house. But, the unit is not being tenanted before and there are no lights! The unit is still at its original state when the developer hand over the keys to the vendor. Thus, it is a brand new house even though we bought a second hand house.

Self Virtual of Pelangi Utama

Pelangi Utama (type C) floor plan taken from Metro Kajang website

We checked around and discussed something about the kitchen cabinets measurement. Then, we left as we need to go to Grace's office to pass her some documents from the vendor lawyer.

Grace congratulates us and I passed her to documents. I asked her to cross check on the proportionment that the vendor lawyer calculate. She reminded us to change the owner name for the Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya (MPPJ) and water bill. I also complained to her on the vendor lawyer office "professionalism".

Finally, Pelangi Utama Acquired!

After much chasing to the bank lawyer and vendor lawyer due to the electricity interruption in Flora Damansara, finally, the cheque is sent over to the vendor lawyer's office by the bank lawyer at about 12PM. Grace (our lawyer) informed that we are able to collect the Pelangi Utama keys from vendor lawyer's office at about 4PM. I called Ken to inform the same.

Ken picked me up at my office at about 3.45PM whereby I take two (2) hours time off. We reached the vendor lawyer's office at about 4.10PM. When we reach the entrance, we are so surprise that there is a seven to eight years old boy hanging around in the office! I looked at the signboard again and confirm it is stated the vendor lawyer firm name. It is a law firm! Then why the boy is doing here?

Since the door was closed due to security reason, I pressed the bell and a legal assistant opens the door for us. Politely, she invited us to have a seat. Then, I asked the way to the washroom. We waited about 20 minutes after my washroom break. So, I asked the legal assistant who greeted us if we can get our keys. She said will be in a short moment which lasted about another 35 minutes! Guess what.....the boy is freely playing and walking around in the office! I wonder how "professional" this law firm is with a small boy around whereby he can do what he likes. My goodness..........

Finally, she invited us to a meeting corner whereby there is a table and few chairs. Then, she started to explain the porportionment that we need to pay back to the vendor for the items that vendor has paid. I really salute to the "professionalism" this law firm have. Why? During the meeting, the small boy came and play around and hide below the chairs we are sitting! My goodness..........

After issuing the cheque for the balance that we need to pay, finally the Pelangi Utama keys and access cards are in our hands! Finally we managed to acquire it after much chasing. *phew*
